colour inspiration: cobalt

Inspired by a new pair of shoes and our bright and beautiful Alberta blue skies, I can’t help but be drawn to the intensity of this classic colour showing up in everything from fashion to home accessories. If you’re shy of colour, blue is an easy one to add and most would gravitate towards the lighter shades. This year, take it up a notch by adding cobalt. It’s like a breath of fresh air.

I have a new appreciation for cobalt blue since creating wedding flowers for two brides last year that used it in their colour schemes. A very rich and classic colour!

Cobalt is such a pretty colour and I am so glad to see it being used in interiors and fashion. That room is like a breath of fresh air, and I love how the bronze light fixture looks with it. And, those shoes will go with just about anything :-)

I have always been a fan of blues in my clothing and especially when creating a ripple finish in a powder room. To me it always feels so inviting warmer than greys which we see lots in Vancouver

Great picks! And how perfect is that room? All the natural textures and the blue furniture make me think that the window looks onto a beach – something we could use in Calgary right about now. :)

This blue is probably my favorite colour – yet I’ve never used it in my home! Something for me to think about.

Our home (in South Africa) exterior is painted in cobalt blue! :) At first, I thought it was a bit too much – but it grows on ya. We haven’t used much blue inside our home – so definitely something to think about.

Thanks for the post, Nyla! We love blue so much we named our dog Blue!
You are right; adding a splash of color, especially a cobalt blue, can be a great choice for interiors. We recently did a project with a gorgeous tropical hued cobalt ceiling in a hallway running the length of an amazing coastal home in Florida. It emulated the sparkling blue waterways that surrounded the home. Gorgeous, but definitely not for the shy! Pics in Veranda Magazine http://bit.ly/fI7mkX
    Thanks again!

It really does seem like Blue is the color this year, I see it popping up everywhere! I don’t blame anyone though, while I myself tend to go more for Green or Orange, the cobalt blue really is striking!

I agree Sarah, I’m seeing blue everywhere and loving it! Although orange is another great colour…may just need to blog about that one next! Thanks for stopping by :)
