*free* design notes: bedroom design

I recently ran a contest to win a design in a box and it was no surprise to hear that most people needed help with their bedroom. I’ve been there. It’s a forgotten room. But recently, my husband and I finally decided to create our own space. After all, both our girls have beautiful little rooms, why couldn’t we? If you’d like to take a look at our finished bedroom, pop on over to my bedroom reveal post.

The master bedroom is often at the bottom of the list when it comes to decorating, it’s not a public space, you don’t spend that much time in there, and most of that time you have your eyes shut. However, may I encourage you to take some time and a little bit of money to create a space that is your oasis and room for you to retreat to. Looking at the image I’ve chosen for today’s notes, it doesn’t take much to get started and I would bet most of these items you already have in some shape or form. Perhaps they need to be re-invented with a fresh coat of paint or new fabric. New life lies within.

So what’s it going to take for you to make your bedroom a priority? Is it money? Is it not knowing where to begin? What do you think about the space below and it’s simplicity and combination of colour, pattern and texture? Do you feel this is easy to achieve or is the mix daunting?

Come on friends. You deserve a beautiful bedroom!

  1. Ah, yes, the master bedroom… I’ve been SO close to finishing for SO LONG!! The never ending quest for a rug! May just give up and carpet the room!! ;)
Love how those pillows pop against the charcoal headboard.

  2. This is a great bedroom – that mix of colours, textures and patterns is amazing. I agree, we all need a comforting and beautiful bedroom, though I often find that it is the last room I do for myself, because I want the “entertaining areas” of the house to be perfect first. Sigh….

  3. Love the richness of this room and it would be so easy to throw a slipcover over the bench and change the pillows for a completely different look for summer. I’ve been fortunate that for the past 10 years we’ve been able to afford to dress the bedroom as well as the rest of the home. The upside to getting older :) It’s a room I want to go to now ….
