colour story: teal and tortoise

First of all let’s start with these sunglasses. They are officially on my wish list. I am also loving the colour scheme. Tortoise never goes out of style and these glasses have a hint of the Tiffany’s blue scattered throughout the frame.

Now take a look at this view! How about those blue skies? Sometimes what you see on the outside can be just as part of the colour scheme as what is on the inside. This image certainly holds true to that. It reminded me so much of what you might see here in Alberta, near Canmore, Banff or Jasper areas. However, I soon realized that this is Chalet Les Anges in Switzerland. The colours and textures are so neutral yet incredibly varied, much like tortoise shell. Add in the brilliant blue skies and you’ve created a gorgeous scheme.

This colour scheme works really well here in Alberta. It’s warm and soothing for our winter months and can easily be updated with the fresh blue/teal hues in the summer. Regardless of your style preference this group of colours an go modern, country, traditional or even a combination of all three!

inspirations: light & airy

I had some time between meetings and ended up in Club Monaco. This is what greeted me as I walked in the store and I fell in love. Not only with the style and colour palette but also the light and airy feeling it offered. I love the connection between fashion and interiors so I thought I would transfer that feeling into a few room settings. My wallet is thanking me for not indulging in this purchase today, however I may still return. The only trouble is ~  it isn’t just the dress that would need to come home with me….

Love this colour palette and it’s mix of patterns and textures. The addition of the chartreuse accent provides tension and something unexpected. Source: Style at Home

The tile detail in the shower is beautiful with the colour blocked stripe detail, and I love the pewter mirror. Source: Style at Home

I could easily see myself wearing that dress while occupying any of these spaces!

How about you?

colour scheme: fall colours inspired by nature

Colour inspirations can come from anywhere and anything and yes, I know it’s spring but I thought I would give you a look into a current project as we move from the renovation to decoration. We’ve recently been shopping for furniture, area rug and accent pillow fabrics to complete the family room. Inspired by the rich colours of nature and the fact that their home is surrounded by beautiful scenery, we’re bringing the outside in. Cherry cabinetry, rock fireplace, warm hardwood floors, and a brick wall gave us our base, and to that we add ivory, paprika, charcoal and mustard as an accent. So here is our colour story and inspiration. Below: a quick collage of some of the samples we are working with and a few images of where it all began. I’ll share the room with you once completed so you can see how the story ends.

Another piece of the puzzle! Today the strike off arrived for this clients custom order area rug and I’m so excited! I quickly put it together the fabric samples so I could see how it all looked. As you can see from the images above it’s all starting to come together nicely!
