hello monday

Hello February and happy Monday!

Well, January flew by at the speed of light didn’t it? Was it a blur for anyone else? For us, January was filled with exciting business development ideas and implementations and inspiring projects in full swing. We had a great time in Toronto for Business of Design as well as IDS, so lots to share in the coming days/weeks.

The magic of winter is wearing off and I’m looking forward to the mini mountains of snow everywhere melting away. It feels like we’ve been stuck in winter mode for far too long already and just as I thought Balzac Billy granted us an early Spring, Environment Canada has said otherwise. *sigh*

Thankfully the days are getting longer and we’re on the upswing to warmer temps. Plus I’m feeling very lucky to have travel plans to head south in the not too distant future.

Hope you’re week and month is off to a successful start!

friday link love: need a nap

Note to self: booking seven meetings within a 48 hour period was perhaps a little ambitions but needless to say it’s an exciting time with lots of fabulous projects on the go. Feeling very blessed right now. Thankfully this morning I managed a much needed sleep in. Albeit only an additional few hours but I’ll take what I can get. Stocking up before the weekend…lots of fun planned! How about you?

Links I loved this week. Happy weekend!

If you’re looking for an easy, tasty and healthy meal, this fish recipe is delish! My girls loved it.

Think bold and patterned tile if you have a renovation project on the go.

summer vacation bliss

Some people refer to today as “the most wonderful time of the year”. I don’t buy in and never have. I relish in summer whether it’s the pace, vacations, warmer and longer days…I can’t get enough of it. I also enjoy having my kids around more and less of the hectic schedule that will ensue now that school is in and the activities get rolling. I could honestly use another few weeks, but I digress…

We stayed fairly close to home this summer, enjoying Alberta and our neighboring friends in British Columbia. We really are lucky to live where we live, so close to all this incredible landscape. Here are a few pics to tell the tale of our summer, and like our daughter said earlier today, “summer…don’t leave us now”. I couldn’t agree more.

From pre-school to grad school and everything in between, here’s to the start of another school year! Hoping you have some wonderful summer memories too.

destination anywhere

Well, Canada Day has come and gone and so has the summer. My girls are back in school already and I think I’m in denial. I have not been one to wish the arrival of the school year earlier than it already comes. This year, our school in particular, has opened the doors and cracked the notebooks earlier than previous years so needless to say I’m. Not. Ready.

I love traveling just about anywhere. Road trip, plane ride, it’s all a new experience and a departure from the everyday. We visited our neighbouring Province of British Columbia twice this summer. First stop was Vancouver for a wedding (more on that in another post), followed by Fairmont Hot Springs which offered more of a relaxed, poolside vacation, high on a mountain top with 360 degree views of the Rockies. Both completely different but equally wonderful.

We passed by this sign post of destinations near and far on our morning walks for coffee during our vacation in Fairmont. I don’t know the accuracy of these numbers but the possible idea that someone has figured this out puts a smile on my face.

destination sign Wherever you were this summer… whatever you experienced, I hope it was full of sun kissed memories and fabulous destinations.

PS. I’ve got a stock pile of things to share with you. Before & afters, inspirations, new projects AND a giveaway coming up next week. I hope you’ll be back!

happy Canada day!

Oh Canada! I’m as patriotic to my city as I am to my country these days. I’ve fallen more in love with Calgary this last week than ever before and I don’t think the love affair is going to be over anytime soon. It’s been an overwhelming week.

‘Tis the season for cottages, lakes and a simpler way of living. Ah…summer. Wherever you are this weekend, I hope you’re enjoying time with loved ones and embracing our amazing country for all that it has to offer.

endless magazines

I’m really hoping for some help here. I know there are worse problems, however this one seems to be taking over a few areas of my home. They are arriving faster then I can even go through them. I long for some time to sit down with a cup of coffee and browse slowly and carefully, absorbing every detail, but instead I turn the pages quickly vowing I will be back to spend more time with them. I’m talking about magazines. I’m positive you have them too. Ranging everywhere from design and architecture, lifestyle, fashion, and catalogues of all kinds, they are in the living room, beside the tub, on my night stand and in my office.

So my question is… how do you manage your magazines? Do you hang on to them, keeping them all in a special place, all organized, alphabetized by magazine and in chronological order? Do you go through them, dog ear pages you like or tear out pages and file them accordingly? Do you make specific time to read them or are you like me, with an endless pursuit of finding the time. In most cases it’s part of my work, yet why do I feel like it’s a guilty pleasure to sit down and enjoy the glossy pages of my magazines?

Would love to know how you stay on top of them and fend off the magazine clutter!
