Yay! It’s the weekend. Not to mention the middle of June. Could someone please slow down the pace time? I’m on the countdown (9 more days!!) until the school year is over and while we will still have pool time to deal with it will be so nice to take things down a notch or two.
This weekend we’re having a few friends over to welcome summer although it still very much feels like spring with all the rain we’ve been getting. Fingers crossed my weather app is right and the weather man is wrong for this weekends forecast.
Here’s what I found interesting this week:
1. I ordered these sun jars for my client’s cottage and love them!
2. One of my favourite fabric lines has a new blog.
3. I had a lovely comment on my blog this week from a fellow blogger Passion Shake. Check it out! (don’t you just love the name?)
4. Loving the casual comfort of Lea Michelle’s home.
5. The summer issue of Heart Home magazine is live!
Happy weekend!

Hot off the press!! New drool worthy wallpaper and trims from Kelly Wearstler for Lee Jofa’s Groundworks collection are about to start making their way into homes. The patterns are graphic, and colour palettes subtle, giving you a perfect mix of high fashion, sophistication and edgy style like only Kelly can. Wallpaper has been back for years and seems to be coming on with a vengeance these days. I only wish more people would commit to pasting their walls with such drama.

When I walked by the Ceragres booth I couldn’t help but take notice. It felt like a candy shop, beautifully designed, full of light, colour and creative ways to display their tile. Ceragres is a leader in the import/distribution of ceramic tile, porcelain tile, slate, stone, glass tile, mosaic and resilient flooring. Wow! So much to look at and so little time. I took in as much of the eye candy as possible and will definitely be keeping them in mind for any upcoming kitchen and bathroom projects.

It’s been almost two months since I attended IDS13 in Toronto and I’m happy to finally be showing off some of the fabulous finds I saw walking the show.
In the past few years I’ve attended, IKEA has not failed to impress visitors with their creativity and ‘outside the box’ thinking for the design of their booth. This year the concept had a warm warehouse/industrial feel and literally had you asking, “that’s IKEA??”. Very smart indeed.
The cabinets are a new line called SOFIELUND, a light grey walnut set in an environment of vast ceilings and space which gave the feeling of walking into someone’s loft space. They combine easily with other cabinets such as ABSTRAKT a high gloss cream or the RUBRIK white glass. Either way it goes to show you can dream big when it comes to kitchens from IKEA.
Even a budget considered project can be realized into a fabulous space with creative thinking and the use of elements and materials in an unexpected way.
What do you think of this space? Would you have thought IKEA?

While across the pond last September for the London Design Festival during BlogTour London we visited Decorex, the UK’s premier luxury design and interiors show. I couldn’t help but notice the incredible number of sculpted pieces, whether furniture, lighting or accessories, it was a predominant design element in numerous booths.
We’ve come through a ‘phase’ if you will of boxy, square, clean lined and somewhat minimal however there’s a movement towards added detail and shapes with softer lines and curves, and I like it.
What do you think? Are you ready to embrace a softer side of design?
Take a closer look at these great lines here: Graham and Green, Ochre, Julian Chichester, William Yeoward, Louise Bradley, Cox London

Tent London is a multi faceted design show and considered one of the most creative events in the design calendar. It boasts over 200 established, yet up and coming interior product designers. These companies are pushing boundaries, with colour combinations and graphic patterns, a trend I spotted each and every row I traveled.
Seaside inspired, Zoe Murphy uses textiles and imagery on recycled furniture encouraging a ‘love what belongs to you’ mindset.
Vintage toys, childhood memories and travel continue to inspire the designers of Mini Moderns where they’ve mastered the art of pattern in their own voice on such items as pillows, wallpaper, fabrics, rugs and ceramics.
Luxurious bohemian patterns is all you really need to say to pique your interest of Surfacephilia. A sketched approach to the design of wallpapers, cushions, bone china and greeting cards, the depth and interest in each pattern caught my eye instantly.
It doesn’t get more classic than black and white, however award winning print design company Erica Wakerly, has taken the graphic combination and softened it. Their approach to interior textiles and wallpaper is described as ‘Modern and delicate. Distinct, but not overpowering’.
Lovers of colour and inspired by their surroundings of nature, art and fashion, Parris Wakefield Additions collection is bold and graphic. With a strong and successful background in graphic design they’ve embraced interiors with their collection of cushions, fabrics, rugs and wallpapers.
What I loved about BlogTour London and the London Design Festival was the diverse visual eye candy that did not disappoint day after day. Each show, showroom tour and not to mention BlogTour London participants, brought a different approach to design, inspiring avenues of reaching their end product as well as a style so apparently unique to everyone, you couldn’t help but be filled with the vigor to go forth and create!

A visit to ELTE is never complete without the fuel to spend 4-6 hours shopping the entire store. While there in January the cafe was closed making way for one bigger and better. I got a peek behind the tarps during construction but I’ve just learned the new cafe is complete and open for business. Congrats ELTE!
Love the dramatic black walls and industrial chic approach to the design. I’m looking forward to having coffee and yummy food close by for my next visit.

I love receiving packages at my doorstep. They are often samples or small items for clients, however this particular package was addressed to me! Have you ever wrapped a present in a box, within a box, within a box, within another box? That’s exactly how this was delivered so needless to say it took some time to get to the final box and unveil the treasure inside.
Crate and Barrel is celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year, which is a pretty big deal, no? The Arzberg Teapot has been a Crate and Barrel classic since December 7, 1962, when the first stored opened in Chicago. Inspired by the Bauhaus school, its perfectly simple shape was designed in 1931 for the Arzberg porcelain factory in Germany. A young college student by the name of Gordon Segal first bought the teapot as a birthday present for his mother who loved making tea in the afternoon. When he opened the very first Crate and Barrel store in Chicago with his wife, Carole, he bought it again. And again. And again. In a 12-month, 50th anniversary celebration, 12 international designers have been given the Arzberg teapot as their artistic canvas. Each is a limited-edition collector’s item, numbered and signed by the artist.
I was thrilled and honoured to receive a limited edition Arzberg tea pot as a gift from Crate and Barrel. A typography collage of 50′s, designed by Bonnie Cauble. Thank you so much Crate! It has a special place on my bookshelf.
There’s a new tea pot for each month and the January and February editions are already sold out. See the collection online at Crate and Barrel and pick up yours while you still can.
Here’s to another 50 years of great style.

The detail in interior design is wide spread. It starts from the concept. Whether a decorative project, full scale renovation or new build, the decision making process begins at the onset and continues right through to the final styling stage. There are choices made for function, some aesthetic and others where both are top of mind.
With stainless steel being the most popular choice, a sink is typically considered a utilitarian object, one that serves a purpose rather than a decorative detail. Not necessarily a focal point of the kitchen, one decides upon width to fit the existing cabinet, bowl sizes and depth as function prevails over the overall look.
Ready to think outside the box?
Blanco has introduced a fireclay sink called CERANA. A modern approach to a century old technique, Cerana has a unique ability to suit modern and traditional design styles with the flip of a side, all while boasting the durability of a surface that won’t stain, chip or fade. Brilliant if you ask me!
Blanco has created a video to share more about the process of this versatile apron sink. You’ll see more of it’s craft and gain an appreciation for the handmade quality of each piece. If you’re in the midst of, or considering a kitchen renovation, this sink is worth a second glance as it offers a functional size and depth while keeping style at the forefront.
Unlike decorative objects that come and go, a sink or faucet is a purchase to stand the test of time. Making a classic choice without compromising design and style is always the perfect choice.
While Blanco carries a wide variety of sinks and faucets for your kitchen and bathroom renovation needs, this sink in particular is one of my new favourites. Now, who’s ready for a kitchen renovation so I can spec this sink?!
Here’s how you can stay connected with Blanco: Canadian website, American website, UK website, facebook, twitter, pinterest and of course they’re a huge supporter and sponsor of BlogTour.

I recently came across new lighting exclusively at Lumens.com and instantly fell in love with these industrial yet modern pendants. I am especially drawn to the pearl finish which adds a feminine twist to the otherwise masculine fixtures.
Inspiration for the CLOUT Collection came from cards, car parts and the Hookah, an Indian waterpipe. Such an interesting combination of shapes and forms but works in a collaborative effort to create the openness and curves of each fixture.
These lights are not large but make an impact in a small and mighty way. Keep them in mind if you’re searching for island pendants or something interesting over a casual dining space. A great alternative to the schoolhouse style of fixture, which by the way I do love, but this is definitely something new and notable.
Did I mention they’re eco-friendly AND a great price too?!
