At this time of year I start to brace myself. Next weekend will start the busiest month of the year next to December. Crazy June I like to call it. This is my last weekend of quiet (quiet-er anyway), however I will be up for early morning swim practices Saturday and Monday. Hubs is going to do the Tuesday morning practice and… how many more years until she can drive herself??? Coffee will most certainly be needed and I think I might try and pit stop into one of my favourite coffee shops between the pool and the dance studio. Wish me luck!
If you’re so inclined, enjoy some weekend reading and inspiration while you sip your coffee. Whatever you’re up to… Happy weekend!

As I perused through my favourite blogs over the weekend I came across a common thread. The combination of pastels and neon was prominent in interiors, fashion, craft and food. On trend, fresh and super summery, I am loving the feel of this colour palette! Soft colours paired with small doses of jarring brights brings a perfect energy to any room.

We have a quiet weekend ahead of us, mostly because our oldest is away at a swim meet (first time being bussed and billeted with her team!) and she’s often the source of much chitter chatter around the house. This does however give us important time with our youngest little girl who is hoping we’ll catch a movie or bowling, on top of going out for dinner. She loves going out for dinner and I’m totally game because then I don’t have to cook :)
They say motherhood is one of the toughest jobs out there so to all you mom’s, young and old ~ here’s to you and all you do! I hope you enjoy your special day.

Sometimes I feel like IKEA is a four letter word. You know the kind I’m talking about. The design industry may have a love it or hate it approach to the big box Swedish powerhouse but regardless of what you think, there’s no denying it’s versatility, style and let’s face it, price point.
I recently had a client, tip toe around the ‘I’ word, almost embarrassed to ask if I shopped there. I do, and the images below prove how one of IKEA’s most popular dressers, MALM is used from high end to low, living spaces to bedrooms. It’s all about keeping an open mind to design, embracing the opportunities of mixing high and low and recognizing that simple does not have to mean boring.

Yay Friday! It’s been a busy, yet productive week and I’m looking forward to the weekend even though I’ve got a laundry list of things to do. Most of all I’m just so darn thankful for the sunshine and warmer weather.
The main topic of conversation around town has definitely been the weather. +15 one day, snowing the next. Spring in Alberta is not really spring, and this year it’s the winter that will never die. Anyway, I digress… thankfully we’ve seen a turn around in the last few days and we’re into double digits. Hallelujah!
Whether you’re inside, outside, hanging at kids activities or having a weekend to yourself, here are some favourite links from the week.
1. 10 best outdoor living trends.
2. Loved this post on investing in your business.
3. My good friend and gallery owner started a blog “fine art conversations”.
4. Colour happy accessories and some Mother’s Day gifts sure to please.
5. A perfect weekend snack.
Have a great weekend. See you Monday!

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a before and after! This particular installation happened early December and we transformed this empty room in a day from basic to beautiful. See the colour and inspiration story here.
Due to the overall size of the room, a sense of coziness and warmth was important to achieve. My clients also requested a sitting area (desk included), with a place for family photos and travel memories. The result is one of stylish comfort, embracing neutral colours, natural textures and an infusion of aubergine in a subtle way.
BEFORE:
Using their existing mission style bed, we added painted bedside tables and dresser in a warm gray. Attention to detail in the circular pattern on the dresser is repeated in the large wood framed mirror above and the night stand hardware.

It’s always a great feeling when your vision comes to life and your clients are thrilled with the results. From what I hear the daybed is everyone’s favorite!

There’s something about this classic combination I’m feeling drawn to and compelled to take inspiration from for upcoming projects. Gold and white have a way of being modern and traditional, masculine and feminine, warm and cool. While metallics may be on trend now, they certainly haven’t gone out of style and consistently maintain a healthy ebb and flow of what’s current and classic.

Hello sunshine!
It’s funny the things you take notice of and gravitate towards, in the end finding a common thread of colour combinations, patterns or graphic designs. Our time in Palm Springs uncovered a re-occurring theme of yellow and white, perfect for the time of year as well as an on trend combination in the world of interiors and fashion. Here are some of my highlights found at the Parker Palm Springs, Trina Turk and J.Crew (similar to what I’m wearing).
Don’t you just love this combo?!

We’re back from our spring break vacation in Palm Springs. It’s the second year we’ve gone and it won’t be our last. We spent the majority of our days poolside, soaking up the sun, lounging with magazines, word search puzzles and music… perfection. The girls were in the water more than they were out, showing off hand stands, dives, back flips, and trying out their underwater synchro moves. Me, with camera close by at all times, managed to capture some ‘moments’ if you will. The smaller details in a larger picture capture more of the story than expected.
Sunglasses and a pool… a match made in heaven.
A heart shaped dry spot on the pool deck my daughter spotted and quickly photographed. I love hearts!
Underwater kisses between sisters.
A reflection of the mid-century modern home we stayed at through the lens of my husbands aviators.
I loved how our younger daughters eye lashes configured into triangles after being in the water.
I seriously can not stop looking at this image. The water is a second home for our oldest and this photo embodies her love of it.
I adore taking photos. I’m no pro, but I’ll keep learning and practicing in an effort to continue capturing moments like these.

A few weeks ago we completed a main floor installation I’ve been looking forward to seeing come together. Unique pieces, pattern and colour as well as the courage to trust has yielded great results.
You may have seen this cafe sign a time or two if you’re following me elsewhere and here it is, finally in it’s home. It is one of my favourite pieces in the space. That and the houndstooth bench – I’m in love!
Here’s a quick peek. (I’m getting good at these teaser shots, aren’t I??)
