Highlights From IDS West 2017

After not having visited for a few years, I made a last minute decision to dart over to Vancouver for the Interior Design Show. It was a quick overnight trip but well worth it. Here are the booths/ exhibits that stood out for me this year.

Jan Kath

The Jan Kath space was simple, allowing the carpets to have centre stage. So stunning. I was also quite taken by the custom daybed/ bench with leather webbing and oversized floor cushions, both customized with your choice of area carpet. I seriously fell in love.

Chop Value

I was quite impressed by Chop Value's creative approach to recycling bamboo chop sticks, an item so vast in the Vancouver restaurant scene and largely disposed of to the landfill. Flooring, wall tiles and table tops are among the products produced by Chop Value. Join their initiative of a zero waste society!

Bobbie Burgers

I have admired Bobbie Burgers art in print and online for sometime now, however I had never seen one in person. I was blown away by the layers, colour combinations, movement and sheer size of her paintings. The are incredibly powerful and impressive!

DXV

DXV's new line of floating vanities and solid surface, integrated sinks in concrete and stone are beautiful. With clean, simple lines, attention to detail and options to customize according to your own style, this is a wonderful addition to a modern bathroom. It's so hot off the press it's not yet on their website. Swooooon!

Formica

Formica introduces their Writable Surfaces collection where design and function collide in a really great way. Available in both chalkboard and whiteboard options, now you can actually write on the wall without getting in trouble!

Getting out into the design field is so important from a product and people perspective. I loved having the opportunity to add to my knowledge base for both existing and new product as well as to connect with west coast designers & suppliers. Thank you IDS West!
