Design In A Box: Family Friendly, Comfortably Stylish, Living Space And Eating Nook

Because design in a box is a ‘virtual’ approach to interior design I am somewhat removed from each project. I receive the submission of criteria, before photos and measurements, arrange a phone call to review and then get to work on creating the room accordingly, all without physically seeing the space. Rarely do I have the opportunity to see the after so when a Calgary design in a box client invited me over to help with finishing touches I was so thrilled with the results I had to photograph. Here’s the box of goodies she received complete with samples, room layouts and a full source guide. She followed everything to a tea! with a few minor changes and the result is a family friendly and comfortably stylish, open concept living/dining space.

With a clean slate, the room is ready for this young family to start living and entertaining in this urban infill.

The criteria: kid-friendly, natural materials and a neutral palette with interest. With an active little boy, this space needed to suit his needs while creating a stylish space for mom and dad to relax and entertain. A calming palette of grey, cream and shades of blue along with the added interest of pattern and texture result in the perfect balance between function and style.
