Lately Loving: Channel Tufting

Channel Tufting has a way of bringing a modern elegance to any space, providing a unique, vertical or horizontal linear detail. Tufting of any kind adds a dimensional quality to upholstered beds, sofas, banquets and chairs however channel tufting is becoming a great alternative to the traditional style of tufting we (of course!) still love. Whether commercial, hospitality or residential interior design, this trend is incredibly versatile and we are loving the look!

How to incorporate Channel Tufting into your space:

1. Keep the fabric simple Solids are best to show off the linear detail of this tufting style.

2. Use fabrics with minimal texture The linear detail is what essentially provides the overall texture of the piece so limit your choices to smooth fabrics such as cottons, velvets or leathers.

3. Don't overdo it One item in your room with a channel tufting detail is plenty. Consider it a statement piece to add interest without overpowering the room.

We've had the opportunity to play with this detail in past projects. Below are a few examples of how we used channel tufting in our designs.

We are excited to share a glimpse into our #NFDIElbowParkModern project where we used channel tufting on the headboard of the bed in the master bedroom.

2018 is shaping up to be a great year for this trend, and we're excited about the potential of using it more in future projects.
