Family Room Before and After

No one prepared me for the emotion I would feel as an interior designer. I think that is the one thing I can honestly say has surprised me the most about this career. There are many different feelings that come and go throughout a project but it's the ones that come at the end, the walkthrough, the reveal, that moment when our clients see their home for the first time, fully furnished, styled and turn key ready is what really get me. It is a feeling unlike any other.

Last week was truly an amazing week. We had the opportunity to see over six months of work come to fruition and welcome our clients into their new home. Their response to what we had done was pure joy. There were tears of disbelief, squeals of excitement and many, many hugs. It felt good. Really good. The feeling of gratitude and happiness was felt mutually between us and our clients, for different reasons of course, however sharing in those feelings together is what makes me fall in love with my job over and over again.

With this, I'm excited to share a glimpse into the family room of this Varsity Estate home in Calgary. It is full of warmth and light, lovely architectural details and hand selected furniture and accessories, specifically tailored for our client.

The family room back in August 2017, ready for hardwood floor installation.

The look of the family room upon arrival for installation. All ready for us to make our mark! This is also the last visual our clients had of this space.

Installations are exciting, exhilarating, time sensitive and full of anticipation. There are months of planning, decision making, correspondence and preparations in order to successfully execute everything that goes into a room or in this case, an entire home. Above wall, regardless of any stresses that come our way, during this process we always have fun. Our entire team worked tirelessly to complete the home on time, each in their own area of expertise however at the same time, doing whatever it took to get the job done, all the way to carrying boxes and bags out the back door as our clients were coming in the front.

And this is what they walked into!

Embracing colours such as navy, caramel and grey, with warm undertones and textures, this family friendly space is the perfect place to relax and spend time together.

We can't thank our clients enough for inviting us into their home and entrusting us with the design and detail of each space. We wish them many years of happiness and wonderful memories as they begin this new chapter.
