Project Reveal: Elbow Park Modern Living Room

The living room is one of my favourite spaces from our Calgary Elbow Park Modern project. I love the soothing colour palette and refined feel of the room. I love the muted tones, yet contrasting elements and textural qualities. Our client requested a neutral, natural space with a focus on sophisticated comfort, a welcomed departure from our often colourful/ pattern filled approach interior design..

ELBOW PARK MODERN LIVING ROOM

While the spaces are voluminous in this home, the rooms feel intimate, warm and relaxed, even in a modern setting. Layers of textures, varying shades of grey and attention to detail give it warmth and interest throughout.

The asymmetrical fireplace adds 'good' tension to the space, while the symmetry of the furniture placement provides balance. The television is recessed into the slate wall making it less obtrusive in the room.

The staircase in this home is a central focal point with it's two-storey curtain wall, steel stringers and open riser, light oak treads. A beautiful combination of structure and detail. Our client requested the look of raw steel, however not an industrial feel so we enlisted the help of Interiors to Inspire to add a finish to the stringers to provide the look we were after.

Cleverly recessed into a ceiling detail, the light grey, sheer drapery offer a diffused light and privacy when closed, a signature design element of architect DeJong Design Associates.

More to follow from this beautiful home! We hope you'll stay tuned.
