Master bedrooms are often the last room to be designed and detailed within a home. While it is the least public space, it is equally, if not more important than other spaces, to create a sanctuary, a quiet space to end your day and start the next.

Because our Elbow Park Modern project was a new build, we were able to carefully consider every room from a design perspective, and the master was no exception.

With the room being as large as it is, we were careful not to "overfill" the room with furniture. We wanted breathing room within the space to offer a calm feel both in product, colour and texture.

The bed is upholstered in a medium grey fabric with a channel tufting detail. The moody beach scene photography of Joshua Jensen Nagle hangs above, with all remaining fabrics off-white/ shades of grey and neutrality to maintain a soft palette.

A 60" diameter flush mount light offers interest and a hint of glam with it's brass arms and crystal shades. Connecting to the ceiling fixture are the vintage bedside table lamps, also with a brass and crystal combination.

Tension and interest is provided in the space by way of the millwork. Either side of the double doors into the room, we filled the wall depth with rift cut white oak built-ins. The upper area is purely decorative with painted accent niches and select objects housed within. The lower portion offers storage with discrete touch latch access.

Keeping with our concept of an airy and bright space, a metal framed chair fills a corner.
