Weekend Link Love

Christmas Day falls on the 25th of December. Every. Year. Yet, why does it always seem to creep up on us? Why do I feel completely under control at the end of November and then crossed eyed by December 15th? Do you have a similar feeling? Please tell me I'm not alone in this.

I'm always so torn between the Martha Stewart style Christmas and the "I can only do so much" Christmas. Martha typically wins. Mostly because frankly, I love Christmas. I love the meaning, I love the gifting, I love the family time, decorating, wrapping presents, music, festivities, dress up parties, an excuse to wear sequins, all the lights, dinner parties, fabulous food and pretty table settings. I'm overly ambitious and end up with heart palpitations as my 11 year old is counting down the days. Could someone PLEASE. STOP. TIME.

And then I take a step back and think, why am I doing all this? What is the point? Well, truly it's because I love it. I recently visited a client/friend and helped set her table for an upcoming dinner party and while it was nearly midnight and near exhaustion after having just moved my office, I couldn't help but think how happy I was to be setting her table. So I'm a glutton for punishment. But I don't think I'd have it any other way. Some things just never change. And I'm ok with that.

As we head into the final week before Christmas, whether you are the Martha type, or are barely getting a tree up this year, I hope you embrace every aspect of this season and all the love, peace and hope it offers.
