The design intent and focus of this modern new home build in inner city Calgary, Alberta, was more light, more fun, and more blue.
Our clients’ vast collection of art framed the interior design of the home, with many pieces specifically located during the framing stage.
We worked with several family heirlooms infusing new pieces strategically and thoughtfully.
A peek into the process
The home is designed with a central elevator disguised with a floor to ceiling reeded wood detail. The staircase wraps around the elevator creating an artful experience as you move from one floor to the next.
Layers of wallpaper, patterned and textured fabrics, as well as many shades of blue throughout the house accompany the art work in a way that speaks to our client’s aesthetic, creating a home as individual and unique as she is.

Transformation Highlights
With an emphasis on more fun, this Calgary art filled new build highlights our full service interior design process — a thoughtful journey from concept through completion and a collaborative experience with our homeowner.
design
Our homeowners art collection was a driving factor for design decisions, with some locations determined as early as the framing stage.
cohesion
We incorporated many shades of blue in several aspects of the home. From fabrics to tile, and lighting to paint colours, there’s a natural cohesion and connectedness as you move from room to room.
challenges
The home is designed as split levels with a staircase that wraps the elevator. This gives the staircase almost a mysterious feel as you move from floor to floor. We used the perimeter walls to display art, and cased the elevator in a reeded wood detail to camouflage it.
