The nostalgia of this suburban Calgary home weighed in, and after 15 years, our clients decided to renovate their family home, making it their own rather than move.

The overall layout of the open concept home was good, with the biggest changes happening in the kitchen and primary ensuite. All areas of the home were updated with new finishes and materials, as well as furnishings and decor.

A peek into the process

The main and upper floors were gutted down to the studs, offering the ability to move walls, adjust lighting and improve the overall functionality of each space.

The result is a fresh family friendly home with many gathering places.

Transformation Highlights

From builder basic to family centred, this Calgary suburban renovation was an exercise in patience, discovery and a family bond.  The interior design established a better connection with who our clients are, and how they live. Our full service process was realized in a hands-on approach in guiding our homeowners from initial concept to final result.

design

With a visual of every room on the main floor, a cohesive approach to material selections was required. We wanted the flow to feel comfortable as you move from room to room. There’s also a huge emphasis on the natural light that floods the house.

patience

Our clients chose to live through the renovation and phase the project; upper floor first, then main. While this approach is not for everyone, our homeowners embraced the challenge and made it through to the other side, with a deeper bond and many memories.

challenges

An open concept home means there are fewer walls, and a need to get creative with plumbing and mechanical placement in order to achieve the intended design and layout.
