Mid-Century Kitchen Renovation - Calgary
Project location: calgary
Project type: renovation
Complete date: 2024
Design notes:
Mid-Century
bold
not too european
This kitchen renovation for an inner city Calgary condo, built in the 50’s embodies mid-century style with a warm and energetic twist. A new layout, rich woods, statement stone, and bold graphic tile come together to create a kitchen with cooking at the forefront.
With a love of food, wine and culture, our clients wanted their kitchen to have a nod to the era of the building while also celebrating their love for European design.
Adjacent rooms are complete with wall details, herringbone hardwood floors and interior windows to strategically separate rooms while still embracing an open concept condo.
The result
Transformation Highlights
More than a kitchen renovation, this dated condo was reimagined through our full service interior design process — transformed into a Mid-Century Modern space with a subtle European undertone.
design
Green quartzite, alongside a black and white marble patterned floor are the centre of attention, with the warmth of walnut as an accompanying element.
function
Our client loves to cook. We wanted the new design to not only be aesthetically pleasing but to also function well for creating beautiful meals at home.
challenges
Condos bring extra challenges by way of concrete floors and ceilings, difficult access points as well as noise and construction restrictions. Careful consideration was given to all aspects to see the project through to completion and keeping the schedule on track.

Kind Notes from our Client
“Working with Nyla and the team on my kitchen renovation was such an incredible experience. They really took the time to understand how I live and what I wanted the space to feel like—not just how it should look.
Every detail was intentional, from the layout to the finishes, and they made what is usually an overwhelming process feel seamless. I loved how they balanced creativity with practicality, and tied it all together with thoughtful solutions. The space now feels like a true reflection of my style, but elevated in a way I couldn’t have achieved on my own.”
